Tumlinson’s Smoky Top BBQ was a welcoming site as we headed into town. I saw the Llano sign and smelled the aroma of smoked meats… right away I knew I had arrived.

As you walk into the restaurant, you get that small-town Texas feel I absolutely love. They have plenty of pictures and mounts on the wall that will keep you busy as you sip your sweet tea and wait for your meal.

We ordered the 3 Meat Plate and shared it. There was plenty for the both of us along with the two sides, we did not go hungry. Ha!

We decided on the brisket, ribs and chicken. Brisket and ribs are usually my favorites, and they were here as well. Both were unbelievable with the perfect amount of smoke. My mouth is literally watering as I write this. The surprise was how good the chicken was. Wow! This was some of the most flavorful chicken I have enjoyed in a while. I would suggest the chicken as a 3rd meat.

We overheard from another table that the bread pudding was a must and that is all I needed to hear. My favorite way to devour some homemade bread pudding is with homemade vanilla ice cream, but we were told that we really needed to let it be. What great advice. The bread pudding was a great way to end a great meal.

Llano is not lacking in the BBQ department, but I can tell ya what… if ya do not stop by Tumlinson’s, then you are doing your taste buds a disservice.
