The Fat Grass Restaurant and Bar is not exactly what you would expect to find in Bay City. This a cool spot downtown and the place you want to be if you are looking for an upscale dining experience in a small-town. The whole staff is very attentive and well informed with the menu. If you are looking for a cocktail or cold beer, you will find it all at the beautiful bar. Outside dining has a water feature that really adds to the ambiance.

Below are the menu items we enjoyed…

Bacon Wrapped Jalapenos

Fat Grass Ribeye
Grilled 12 oz. prime hand cut ribeye, steak fries, sautéed spinach, red wine mushroom sauce.

Chicken Fried Deer Steak
Farm fresh raised venison steaks tenderized and lightly breaded, red potato mashers, green beans, homemade white gravy.

Blackberry Cobbler
Southern Style, Vanilla Ice Cream, Raspberry glaze.

Everything was quite tasty, but my favorite menu item was the Chicken Fried Deer Steak. The Venison was extremely fresh and seasoned to perfection. The breading was light, and the cream gravy was thick… just like I like it! The red potatoes and green beans were fantastic. You know I am a dessert lover and this one did not disappoint. What really stood out about the Blackberry Cobbler we enjoyed was the fact it was not too sweet. Sometimes cobblers can be over sweetened, and this was just right… accented with Vanilla Ice Cream, it was a match made in heaven.
